1. Mr. Eui Dong HWANG joins the firm’s Antitrust and Competition practice following a distinguished 25-year tenure on the bench. His career includes pivotal roles as a Judicial Researcher at the Supreme Court of Korea and as a Presiding Judge at the Daejeon District Court and the Seoul High Court. Most recently, he served in the Seoul High Court’s Fair Trade Division, gaining extensive experience in competition law cases. Drawing upon his extensive judicial experience, Mr. Hwang offers trial-tested insights into high-stakes disputes. He is particularly recognized for his antitrust and competition expertise, where he bridges the gap between complex regulatory theory and courtroom reality at a time when antitrust scrutiny involving major technology and industrial groups continues to grow in Korea.
2. Mr. Hyuk Joon KWON joins the firm’s Litigation practice with a unique perspective on the intersection of law, policy, and judicial procedure. Formerly a Presiding Judge at various District Courts and the Seoul High Court, Mr. Kwon’s expertise is further distinguished by his service as a specialized advisor to the National Assembly’s Legislation and Judiciary Committee. His background will bring invaluable insight on constitutional and procedural matters as Korea prepares to introduce a new constitutional complaint mechanism allowing individuals to challenge court decisions, a development expected to reshape aspects of the country’s litigation landscape.
3. Mr. Taek Won OH joins the firm’s Litigation practice with a multidisciplinary background, having practiced as a patent attorney prior to his judicial tenure. His career is marked by his service as a Judge at the Seoul Central District Court and as the Director of Personnel Review at the National Court Administration, culminating in his position as a Presiding Judge at the Changwon District Court. By leveraging this intersection of technical expertise and judicial administration, Mr. Oh delivers distinctive strategic foresight in the most complex regulatory environments, particularly in disputes involving advanced technologies and complex industrial sectors. Notably, his experience overseeing personnel matters across the judiciary enables him to offer deeper insight into the institutional dynamics of the courts as procedural reforms and high-stakes commercial disputes continue to redefine Korea’s legal system.
