On March 9, 2026, the Korea Fair Trade Commission (the “KFTC”) published a proposed amendment (the “Proposed Amendment”) to the Notification on Detailed Standards for the Imposition of Administrative Fines (the “Administrative Fine Notice”), which sets out the methodology for calculating administrative fines under the Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act (the “MRFTA”).
The Proposed Amendment forms part of the KFTC’s plan to reform the administrative fine regime announced on December 30, 2025. The primary objective of the reform is to deter violations of the MRFTA through strengthened monetary sanctions.
