IP Group and HR Team Complete IP and Compliance Risk Management Project for Kolon Industries
2011.11.24.
Yulchon's Intellectual Property Group and Human Resources Team successfully completed a project to establish an IP compliance system intended to minimize legal risk to the IP and information of Kolon Industries, Inc.
To establish an IP compliance system consistent with Kolon's business features and status, Yulchon attorneys (i) identified risks which may arise in IP and information protection; (ii) reviewed Kolon's responses to such risks in the past (by reviewing existing legal documents and interviewing employees); (iii) assessed legal risks for Kolon; (iv) established a risk management system based on the risk assessment; and (v) established a monitoring system to ensure the efficient implementation and management of the response system (training of head office, research center and local factories, and establishment of a Legal Affairs/Compliance Team advice system).
This large-scale project is unprecedented in the IP/information protection area in Korea. With this project, Kolon was able to establish its own system for management of all possible legal risks and damage to its IP/information protection.
Yulchon's IP group was selected as advisor to Kolon because it offered an intensive and comprehensive compliance program in close cooperation with Yulchon's Human Resource Team from the beginning. Yulchon attorneys incorporated their expertise in IP creation, management, and dispute resolution as well as human resources to deal with general issues which may arise in the IP/information protection area.
Partners Young Hill Liew and Jeong Yeol Choe, associates Hyeong Joo Lim, Kee Jeong Kim, Yong Min Lee and Chun Jin Yoon from the IP Group and partners Hee Chul Kang, Sang Wook Cho and Hyoung Young Ryu, associates Kyu Sang Hwang, Jung Yeon Kwak, Hyun Jeong Kim and Dai Won Chung of Yulchon's Human Resource Team handled the project.
