简介
Hyeong Joo Lim graduated from the College of Engineering at Seoul National University and passed the 45th Korea Judicial Examination in 2003, subsequently completing the 35th Korea Judicial Research and Training Institute. After finishing his training, he joined Yulchon, where he has been responsible for a wide range of intellectual property matters, including trade secrets, patents, trademarks, copyrights, and designs, as both a lawyer and patent attorney.In particular, he has accumulated extensive experience in civil and criminal litigation and providing advice on issues related to technology leakage, trade secrets, employee inventions, and compliance involving trade secrets, employee inventions, and improper solicitation. He also has significant expertise in conducting internal investigations (including forensic examinations). Mr. Lim handled a case on equivalent infringement, which was introduced by the Supreme Court as a landmark case. Due to his exceptional expertise, Mr. Lim has been recognized in several prestigious legal publications. He was selected as one of the "40 Under 40" top lawyers in the Asia-Pacific region by Asia Legal Business in 2017, and named by Thomson Reuters as a "Highly Recommended Lawyer" in 2023-2025. He also received the Lexology Client Choice Award for "Best IP-Patent Lawyer" in 2021 (the only recipient in Korea). Furthermore, he was recognized as a "Leading Lawyer" in Intellectual Property by Chambers Asia-Pacific (2020-2025) and a "Leading Individual" in Intellectual Property by Legal 500. In Korea, he was selected as the Best Lawyer in the field of Intellectual Property by both the JoongAng Ilbo and the Korea In-house Counsel Association. He has been named "Top Lawyer" in the IP field by The Law Times’ Consumer Report (2020, 2022, 2025) and was also listed as a "Best Lawyer" in Intellectual Property, Patents, and Trademarks by Hankyung Business in 2022. Recently, he has been actively involved in improving legal systems for emerging industries such as AI, Metaverse, and NFTs, serving as a member of the Copyright Commission’s New Technology Environment Intellectual Property Council, as well as participating in the AI Legislative Reform Task Force of the National Information Society Agency, the Korea Intellectual Property Office's Task Force for Improving Trade Secret Protection, the Smart City Advisory Committee, and KoreaBio.Mr. Lim currently leads the New Industry IP Team at Yulchon, which focuses on new industry sectors, and serves as the Deputy Head of the Digital Forensic Center, which conducts digital forensics and internal investigations.
