Amendment to the Enforcement Decree of the Personal Information Protection Act Comes into Effect

On March 15, 2024, the amended Enforcement Decree of the Personal Information Protection Act (“Amended Enforcement Decree”) came into effect. The Amended Enforcement Decree introduces specific provisions that were delegated by the Personal Information Protection Act which was amended on March 14, 2023 (“Amended PIPA”) and came into effect on March 15, 2024, including those pertaining to rights concerning automated decisions facilitated by artificial intelligence (AI) and similar technologies, qualification requirements for Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) and insurance requirements.
