In this project, Yulchon (i) examined the ESG ecosystem and the related laws and regulations, (ii) reviewed the current status of ESG evaluation criteria in the gaming industry, (iii) researched the areas that companies should focus on to achieve higher scores from external evaluation under the current ESG evaluation scheme in the gaming industry, and (iv) proposed the ways to improve ESG evaluation criteria considering the specific characteristics of the game industry.
In particular, this research is noteworthy that it identified the items from the generally known environmental evaluation criteria and disclosure criteria that are specifically applicable to the gaming industry, analyzed how major companies in the gaming industry are responding to these items, and sorted out the factors not covered by those, thereby proposing the elements that have to be considered when discussing the ways to improve the environmental evaluation criteria. Also, this research is meaningful in that it has contributed to introducing and advancing ESG management system for companies in the gaming industry.
