Yulchon Advised KEXIM on US$5 Billion Global Bond Issuances Across Two Offerings.

Yulchon acted as Korean legal counsel to The Export-Import Bank of Korea (“KEXIM”) in connection with the multi-tranche U.S. dollar bond issuances in September 2025 and January 2026, totaling US$5 billion across fixed-rate, floating-rate and green notes.
The transactions were executed in two phases: (i) a US$1.5 billion dual-tranche issuance in September 2025 and (ii) a US$3.5 billion four-tranche issuance in January 2026. The January deal included a US$1.25 billion green tranche and a ten-year tranche positioned to support financing for Korea’s AI-driven industrial transition.
Yulchon advised KEXIM on Korean law and regulatory matters throughout both offerings, reviewed key transaction documents, coordinated with international counsel, and issued the necessary Korean legal opinions to facilitate closing. Given KEXIM’s status as a statutory policy bank established under the KEXIM Act, the transactions required careful analysis of its issuance authority, compliance with governing legislation, and alignment with international capital markets practice. Yulchon ensured that all corporate approvals and legal requirements under Korean law were properly satisfied to enable successful cross-border execution.
As Korea’s core policy financial institution, KEXIM depends on stable access to global capital markets to finance overseas infrastructure, strategic industries and export transactions for Korean companies. Successfully raising US$5 billion during a period of global rate volatility reinforced its liquidity and funding flexibility. In particular, the sizable green tranche expanded KEXIM’s sustainable finance platform by earmarking proceeds for eco-friendly projects, while the AI-linked financing focus underscores its role in supporting Korea’s digital transformation.
Through the transactions, Yulchon supported KEXIM in strengthening its financial resilience and advancing policy-driven financing priorities.
