Mr. Kim is a senior advisor in the Corporate & Finance Practice at Yulchon. After passing the 27th Higher Civil Service Examination in 1983, Mr. Kim was actively involved in the establishment and enforcement of major policies over financial businesses, including banking, securities, insurance, credit card, and specialized credit finance businesses, while serving as the Manager of the Finance Policy Division at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Office Director of the Public Fund Management Committee, and Director at the Financial Services Bureau of the Financial Services Commission. Mr. Kim also served as the Commissioner of the Financial Intelligence Unit in 2011 to direct anti-money laundering work, a topic of growing interest in recent years, and as the Chairman at NongHyup Financial Group in 2018 where he delivered the best management performance in the company’s history. Between 2020 and early 2023, Mr. Kim served as the Chairman of the Korea Federation of Banks, Chairman of the Banks Foundation for Young Entrepreneurs (D-Camp), Chairman of the Korea Credit Information Services, and Chairman of the United Asset Management Company (“UAMCO”). Mr. Kim also worked at Yulchon from 2014 to 2018 as a senior advisor before rejoining Yulchon in March 2024.
