Prior to joining Yulchon LLC in 2025, Kim Jae Joon worked at the Korea Exchange from 1987 and served the organization for approximately 30 years. During his tenure at the Korea Exchange, Mr. Kim worked across all departments—including the Securities Market Division, Market Surveillance Division, Management Support Division, Derivatives Market Division, and KOSDAQ Market Division—establishing himself as a capital markets expert with extensive, cross-departmental experience. From 2011 to 2012, he served as Deputy Head of the Derivatives Market Division, followed by his roles as Deputy Head of the Management Support Division from 2012 to 2013, and again as Deputy Head of the Derivatives Market Division from 2013 to 2014. From 2014 to 2017, he served as Chairman of the KOSDAQ Market Committee and concurrently as Head of the KOSDAQ Market Division. During his tenure as Chairman of the KOSDAQ Market Committee and Head of the KOSDAQ Market Division, Mr. Kim spearheaded the reform of listing requirements by shifting the focus towards growth potential in an effort to facilitate capital raising for venture companies and giving spur to the growth of the KOSDAQ market. In addition, Mr. Kim also introduced a variety of alternative listing pathways, including special listing provisions for high-growth companies and the so-called “Tesla Requirements”—a framework that allows innovative businesses with strong future potential to go public despite low current profitability. Owing to these initiatives, over 500 companies were successfully listed on the KOSDAQ and KONEX markets during his term.Mr. Kim’s main areas of advisory practice include supporting the growth of early-stage companies, initial public offerings (IPOs), reviewing disclosure and listing maintenance compliance for public companies, corporate governance and business restructuring, and identifying new business opportunities—all with a focus on facilitating corporate growth and value creation.
