Outbound Investment Team Represents Kia Motors in the Acquisition of Italian Distributorship

Yulchon's Outbound Investment Team represented Kia Motors Corp. in the acquisition of Kia Motors Italia S.p.A., the Italian distributorship selling Kia automobiles and parts in Italy. The deal gives Kia Motors Corp. its own distribution network in Italy.
In an effort to form a direct overseas sales network, Kia acquired the Italian distributor and vehicle logistics business, a parts sales and logistics business, and engaged in other supplementary deals including the establishment of a local corporation and the purchase of real estate. The Outbound Investment Team needed to obtain approval from a pool of 24 banks which had executed a workout agreement with the seller.
This deal required a wide range of advice on numerous issues including the transaction structure, due diligence, negotiations with creditors and seller, and corporate formation. Yulchon provided advice on the entire project from the initial phase to post-closing operations.
