Yong Sang Kim, a senior foreign attorney admitted in New York and Washington D.C, leads a group of US licensed attorneys at Yulchon as the head of Yulchon’s International Litigation and Government Investigation team. He joined Yulchon LLC after spending 14 years at two large international law firms including more than a decade of practice in Washington D.C. Immediately prior to joining Yulchon, Mr. Kim was a co-representative of O’Melveny & Myers’ Seoul office. Mr. Kim specializes in International Dispute Resolution, Criminal Investigations and Antitrust. Mr. Kim is well known for his critical role in DOJ criminal investigations and Antitrust class actions. For example, Mr. Kim represented LG Electronics in the CRT class action litigation, Fujikura in DOJ’s criminal auto part price fixing investigation, and multiple executives and employees of a major South Korean airline and a petrochemical company in DOJ criminal investigations. Mr. Kim has also successfully resolved a DOJ criminal fraud investigation involving bribery allegations against a major Korean construction company. His notable antitrust and civil litigation experience includes representing major global corporations such as Altria, AT&T, GE, and Monsanto with their merger and regulatory matters and in civil antitrust class action and other commercial litigation cases. Since 2009, Mr. Kim has been deeply involved in international arbitration cases. He represented the Republic of Korea in its first treaty based Investor State Arbitration brought by Lone Star from 2012 to 2015 and has represented the Defense Acquisition Program Administration since 2009 in multiple commercial arbitration cases against foreign military parts manufacturers and suppliers. In addition, he has successfully enforced the arbitral awards in the U.S. by bringing fraudulent transfer actions and other recognition proceedings. As a prolific writer and eloquent speaker, he is regularly approached to write for major newspapers and legal publications in Korea and to speak at conferences and seminars. He was an adjunct professor at Korea University Graduate School of Legal Studies. His other external activities include serving as the Vice President of Korea US Washington Forum, International Director of Korea Competition Law Association and a registered arbitrator at the Korea Commercial Arbitration Board.
