Ki Hong Kim is a senior advisor at Yulchon who is recognized as a top administrative expert in the areas of culture, sports and tourism through his extensive experience in both prominent international and domestic organizations. After passing the 32nd higher civil service examination, Mr. Kim held a variety of major roles including Director General of the Media Policy Bureau, the Sports Bureau, the Copyright Bureau and the Tourism Bureau during his time at Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (including the Ministry of Information) for a total tenure of over 30 years. Advisor Kim played a leading role in opening the Information Age and the era of multi-media/multi-channel broadcasting through the introduction of cable TV and local commercial broadcasting in the 1990s. Mr. Kim is also an expert in areas of broadcasting and media administration, working at the forefront of initiating the Korean Wave (Hallyu) through the export of Korean media content. Mr. Kim significantly contributed to attracting the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics to Korea, and holds the distinction of longest-serving Director General of the Sports Bureau. As the Vice President of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, advisor Kim also played a major role in realizing a successful Pyeongchang Olympic Games despite unfavorable conditions, including by generating profits and taking part in inter-Korean high-level talks. Furthermore, Ki Hong Kim successfully enabled distribution of music copyright trust management to multiple organizations during his term as the Director General of the Copyright Bureau. He is also part of Korea’s success story in attracting over 100 million international tourist arrivals during his time as Director General of the Tourism Bureau. Advisor Kim was also responsible for successfully leading multiple large-scale projects to build more advanced tourism infrastructure in Korea through key work that included the contractor selection for the Integrated Resort (IR) project in Yeongjongdo Island and the amendment of the Tourism Promotion Act.
