Mr. Sang Wook Cho is a partner at Yulchon who practices primarily in the areas of Corporate General, Mergers & Acquisitions, Human Resources, Finance (Fund) and Europe. He joined Yulchon as an associate in 1999 and was made partner in 2007.
In the area of M&A, besides his ongoing representation of TStone Corp. (PEF) in its acquisitions of private academies since 2007, Mr. Cho has played a leading role in a number of consummated M&A deals, such as the sale of Ticketlink Corp., a Korean unrivaled sales agency for entertainment tickets, the sale of Portfolio. Co., Ltd., an on-line advertising agency and the sale of Korean business units of Hands On Mobile Korea Ltd. In addition, some of highlights of the M&A deals in which he has been involved include the merger between Dongseo Industry Co., Ltd. and Ilshin Construction Co., Ltd., the merger between Korea Telecom and Korea Telecom Freetel, and Doosan Group’s sale of its four subsidiaries, including Doosaninfracore.
In the area of fund (collective investment), as a legal advisor to the Asset Management Association of Korea, Mr. Cho participated in drafting provisions on the collective investment for the enactment of the Financial Investment Services and Capital Market Act. He has actively advised domestic asset management companies as well as domestic and foreign fund investors on the overall issues related to establishment and management of the funds such as private equity funds and real estate investment trust including disputes (litigation) arising therefrom.
In the area of human resources, he provides consulting services on the Korean Labor Standard Act, the Act on the Protection, Etc., of Dispatched Workers, and the Act on the Protection, etc., of Fixed-term and Part-time Employees primarily to domestic leading companies, and foreign corporations which have entered into the Korean markets or wish to do so.
Mr. Cho currently serves as a member of the Advisory Committee on Asset Management Infrastructure of Korea Security Depositary.
